About the Artist
Richard has been working with cameras from a very young age. Much of his early photographic experience and education was acquired from his father, an accomplished photo-hobbyist. Painting has always been a part of Richard’s life. Even as a busy medical doctor, he found time to paint. While spending many years living on a sailboat, the perfect medium was watercolors – minimal equipment, rapid drying and of course, no shortage of water. More recently, Dr. Tardell is also using acrylic paint and water-mixable oil paint. Travel is very important to Richard. He is fortunate to have visited, and lived throughout the US and in several foreign countries. This provides him with many opportunities to photograph and paint. In addition, Richard enjoys painting pet portraits and pictures of private homes.
